Help

The Molecular Signatures Databases (MSigDB) contains gene sets from various sources. This web site is designed to help you find gene sets and explore their annotations to gain further insight into the biology behind the gene sets:

Collections

MSigDB gene sets are divided into collections based on their source and content. The Collections page describes each collection. From this page:

  • List the gene sets in each collection
  • Download the gene set collections

Gene sets

Alphabetical list of gene sets and gene set collections. From the Browse Gene Sets page:

  • Find a gene set and view its gene set page

Gene set page

Each gene set is fully described by a gene set page, which includes its collection, organism, contributor, and associated PubMedID (if any). To display a gene set page, find the gene set and click its name. From a gene set page:

  • View the genes in the gene set
  • Download the gene set
  • Compute overlaps with other MSigDB gene sets (more...)
  • View an expression profile of the gene set (more...)
  • Categorize the genes in the gene set by gene families (more...)

Search

Find gene sets by keyword, gene set name, collection, organism, or contributor. From this page:

  • Find a gene set and view its gene set page
  • Export gene sets
  • Investigate gene sets (copy them to the "Investigate Gene Sets" page for analysis)
  • Show overlaps between select gene sets

Investigate

To gain further insight into the biology behind the gene set:

  • Compute overlaps with other MSigDB gene sets (more...)
  • View an expression profile of the gene set (more...)
  • Categorize the genes in the gene set by gene families (more...)
